CHASE AND FLOYD DUE PROPERTY
PAGE NO. 3
results indicate DBCP was not detected and the level of nitrates to
be 77 mg/l, which is above the Maximum Contaminate Level (MCL) of
45 mg/l .
VI. SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
A total of 4 test holes were excavated to a depth 10 feet in
the areas of the existing and proposed home sites in order to
determine the soil profile in the general area. For approximate
location of the test holes (PT) see the Tentative Parcel Map in the
Appendix. The soil profile test holes were logged by an engineer
and a description of the soils encountered in each hole is
contained in the Appendix. The surface soils consisted of a silty
fine to medium sand. Slightly cemented material was encountered at
a depth of 3 . 5 to 4. 5 feet. This was underlain by various strata
of silty sand and sandy silt. Percolation tests were performed in
the surface silty sand stratum. For a more detailed description of
- the soils encountered see the log of test holes.
A shallow percolation test was performed at each of the test
hole locations. Eight inch diameter by 36 inch deep test holes
were excavated for each test. Two inches of gravel was placed in
the bottom of each hole. A 3 inch diameter perforated pipe was
then placed in each hole and backfilled with gravel. Each of the
tests holes were filled with water 24 hours prior to running the
tests. The last half hour of the tests readings were witnessed by
a county health official and the test data obtained is enclosed in
the appendix. The percolation rates have been adjusted to account
for the gravel and pipe backfill. Calculations for adjustments are
on the test data sheets.
A summary of the test results is presented next:
Diameter of Depth of
Test No. Hole (in.) Hole (in. ) Percolation Rate (min/in)
PT-1 8 36 4. 2
PT-2 8 36 23
PT-3 8 36 17
PT-4 8 36 4. 9
As indicated, the percolation test were shallow ones.
Although the percolation rates were fairly good, it is recommended
that deep pits be used in conjunction with the shallow leach lines
due to the presence of the cemented stratum that exists 3 . 5 to 4. 5
feet below the surface.
?OERS
a +
z JU
o
P
4SSoG
