The <br /> following features could be incorporated into the design/operation of this project to <br /> provide additional reductions of the overall level of emissions. The suggestions listed <br /> below should not be considered all-inclusive and are options that the agency with the <br /> land-use authority should consider for incorporation into the project. <br /> The applicant should require that all diesel engines be shut off when not in use on the <br /> premises to reduce emissions from idling. The applicant should install equipment that <br /> provides amenities that would otherwise be powered by idling engines. An example of <br /> such technology includes IdleAire. See www.idleaire.com/. <br /> Construction activity mitigation measures include: <br /> Limit area subject to construction activity at any one time <br /> Limit the hours of operation of heavy duty equipment and/or the amount of <br /> equipment in use <br /> Replace fossil-fueled equipment with electrically driven equivalents (provided they <br /> are not run via a portable generator set) <br /> Curtail construction during periods of high ambient pollutant concentrations; this may <br /> include ceasing of construction activity during the peak-hour of vehicular traffic on <br /> adjacent roadways, and "Spare the Air Days" declared by the District. <br /> Implement activity management (e.g. rescheduling activities to reduce short-term <br /> impacts) <br /> During the smog season (May through October), lengthen the construction period to <br /> minimize the number of vehicles and equipment operating at the same time. <br /> Off road trucks should be equipped with on-road engines when possible. <br /> • Minimize obstruction of traffic on adjacent roadways. <br /> District staff is available to meet with you and/or the applicant to further discuss the <br /> regulatory requirements that are associated with this project.
