Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study IrerraconProposed Global Carrier Inc. ■ Manteca, California
August 8, 2018■ Terracon Project No. NA187034
1.5.1 Soil Boring Locations
According to Mr. Vieira, the additional septic system for the 8,000 SF building is proposed to be
located on the eastern portion of the site south of the residence. Per telephone conversations
with Mr. Vieira, Terracon placed the percolation test boring (151)approximately 11 feet west of the
eastern fence line and approximately 100 feet south of the groundwater well. A soil profile boring
(B2)was additionally excavated near boring B1 to a depth of 10 feet bgs. Refer to Appendix A,
Exhibit 2 for the boring locations.
1.5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
Soil borings (61 and 132) were advanced with a 4 inch diameter hand auger. Boring B1 was
advanced to a depth of 3.5 feet bgs and Boring B2 was advanced to a depth of 10 feet bgs. Refer
to Appendix A, Exhibit 2 for the boring locations.
1.5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
The following table presents a log of the soil boring.
Table 4.
Summary of Soil Lithology.
Boring Depth Interval (ft) Soil Type Unified Soil
Classification
B1 0-3.5 Brown silty sand, fine to medium SM
B2 0- 10.0 Brown silty sand, fine to medium SM
1.5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
Based on the results of the field work, site soils consist primarily of brown, fine to medium silty
sand or sandy loam to depths of 10 feet bgs. A visual inspection of the shallow soils from the test
hole points to favorable conditions for shallow septic disposal due to the sandy soils. These
characteristics allow for sufficient seepage or percolation. Generally speaking, uncemented
coarse-grained soil has a greater potential for percolation than fine-grained or cemented soil.
1.6 Percolation Test Information
1.6.1 Percolation Test Locations
Refer to Section 1.5.1 and Appendix A, Exhibit 2.
Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 10
