Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study 1erracon
Ripon Winery Proposed Warehouse ■ Ripon, CA
January 20, 2017 ■ Terracon Project No. NA167059
1.4.3 Water Sample Location
According to Mr. Baskin, there ar no nctioning groundwater wells near the percolation test
area. On January 12, 2017, Terra poke with Mr. Steven Shih of the San Joaqui ounty
Environmental Health Department as to whether a groundwater sample should be collecte on
the opposite side of the winery. Mr. Shih indicated, a water sample was not required as the site
is a Small Property Water System and is routinely monitored by the agency, therefore a wate
sample was not collected.
1.4.4 Groundwater Sample Analysis /
Not applicable. Refer to Section 1.4.3. `
1.4.5 Groundwater Sample Handling
Not applicable. Refer to Section 1.4.3.
1.5 Soil Profile and Geologic Information
The site is depicted on the Geologic Map of California 2010, as within generalized quaternary
Pleistocene and Holocene deposits which are comprised primarily of alluvium, lake, playa, and
terrace deposits; unconsolidated and semi-consolidated. Mostly nonmarine, but includes marine
deposits near the coast.
1.5.1 Soil Boring Locations
Percolation test borings P1, P2 and soil profile borings B1, B2 were located near the southeastern
corner of the existing vineyard north of the Murphy Road drive entrance, west of the existing leach
field, and northwest of the existing scale house. Refer to Appendix A, Exhibit 2 for the boring
locations and corresponding gps coordinates below:
P1 (37°47'45.53"N, 121° 6'12.58"W)
P2 (37°47'45.51"N, 121' 6'13.65"W)
B1 (37°47'45.98"N, 121° 6'12.39"W)
B2 (37°47'45.74"N, 121° 6'13.46"W)
1.5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
The percolation test borings (P1 and P2) were advanced with a 4 inch diameter hand auger and
excavated to a depth of 3.0 feet bgs. Two soil profile borings (B1 and B2) were advanced to a
depth of 10 feet bgs near the percolation test borings using an 8 inch diameter hollow stem auger.
Refer to Appendix A, Exhibit 2 for the boring locations.
1.5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
The following table presents a log of the soil boring.
Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 8
