Sites (LOP) list, dated May 2010, for surrounding facilities of concern. No listed
facilities were found within one-quarter mile of the subject Site.
Live Oak reviewed the EHD's Water Well Data Table dated March 10, 2009 for nearby
addresses that have been tested for nitrate and dibromochloropropane (DBCP). Eight
nearby wells were identified at addresses located within approximately two miles of the
Site. Five of the wells had been tested for DBCP; it was detected in four at levels
ranging from 0.26 to 2.96 parts per billion (ppb). Nitrate as NO3 was detected in all
eight wells at concentrations of 18 to 135 parts per million (ppm). The Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) set by the US EPA for nitrate as NO3 is 45 ppm; the MCL for
DBCP is 0.2 ppb.
7.3 Office of Emergency Services Databases
The San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services (OES) Hazardous Materials
Management Program (HMMP) Compliance Website was searched on November 26,
2010. No records were identified for the Site addresses.
Michelle Halliwell of the OES was interviewed by telephone on December 7, 2010. She
indicated at this time that no hazardous materials incident reports are on file in the OES
database for the Site address or adjacent addresses on Highway 120 or Carrolton
Road.
7.4 Fire District
The Ripon and Escalon Fire Districts were contacted regarding the burned packing
shed on the Site. Neither Fire Marshal Joel Castrol of Ripon nor Fire Chief Mello of
Escalon could remember the fire or locate records for it. Neither was aware of any
environmental incidents involving the Fire District in the vicinity of the Site. The
boundary dividing the two Districts is Carrolton Road (personal communication,
December 7, 2010).
7.5 Agricultural Commissioner's Records
The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office was contacted regarding
agricultural use of the site. Chemical use reports were identified for the Site under the
name of David Van Elderen. According to these records, approximately 60 acres of
almonds and five acres of persimmons were grown on the Site from 2005 through the
present. Use reports were identified for the almonds only. No violations were identified.
The following table summarizes the products reportedly applied to the Site from 2005
through the present.
LOG El 028 Page 5
