Dec.19.2000
To: Tina Wehrmeister
209.468.3163
re: application number UP-00-22
proposed soccer complex
Dear Tina.
Having just learned of the above mentioned project proposal, we must voice our
concern to it's implementation.
Our concerns involve not only the potential degradation of our rural and
agriculturally based community, but the safety of the participants and spectators involved
in the sports at the proposed complex..
The complex is to be situated on very busy state highway 120, with limited access
from the highway and what seems to be insufficient parking on the property. This can only
lead to traffic congestion, illegal parking, people running across the highway, and
eventually injuries and deaths. Many of us who have lived in this area for any period of
time have experienced or witnessed tragic accidents on highway 120. The surrounding
roads are not designed to handle overflow parking, and property damage to orchards,
fences,vehicles and pastures is likely.
Another potential area of concern is the need to apply agricultural chemicals for
pest and weed management. The facility borders on orchards and vineyards, both of which
need several applications per season of various products to protect and enhance the crops.
Almond and walnut harvests occur during soccer season and are a source of large
amounts of dust, irritants, and the presence of heavy harvesting equipment.
We are not opposed to a soccer facility, in fact we have participated in the sport
and have family members who currently compete. We are opposed to the location of the
proposed complex for the reasons mentioned above_ A complex in a more appropriate
area would be an asset to Escalon and it's residents, and further enhance the quality of life
in our town.
Please place us on the mailing list for future information about this project.
Glenn Graham and Jane Ayers
30835 Rossier Rd.
Escalon, CA. 95320
209.838.8005
Td Wtl0Z:60 0002 OZ '0a(I £9S6 92S 602 'ON Xtfd x 'ONI 831N30 kfd3WH0 : WOH-d
