Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report lrracon
10516 E. Peltier Road ■ Acampo, California
April 17, 2018 ■ Terracon Project No. NA177074
Burn Pile — A burn pile is located on the site. The burn pile is reportedly used to dispose of
vegetative debris. Burn piles can be a source of potential heavy metals and poly-aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs)which represents an environmental concern to the site.
Concrete Staining — Staining (— 3 SF)was observed on concrete slabs in Shops 1 and Shop 3.
Based on concrete containment and size of the stains (— 3 SF), the staining appears de minimis
in nature and is not anticipated to represent an environmental concern to the site at this time
Soil Staining — Soil staining was observed near the 55-gallon waste oil drum and empty 5-
gallon containers located on the west side exterior wall of Shop 2. The soils were moist due to
a shadow cast from the adjacent building, therefore the size of the stains could not be
determined. Based on evidence of release, the soil staining represents an environmental
concern to the site at this time.
Chemical Storage > 5-gallons — The barrels, drums, and containers greater than 5-gallons
containing petroleum hydrocarbons and/or agricultural chemicals are not located above
secondary containment. Any and all releases could potentially impact the soil.
Gas Well — Based on information obtained from DOGGR, a plugged and abandoned former dry
gas well is located on the site. Drilling activities/mud associated with deep well drilling have the
potential to contaminate shallow soils at the site. Additionally, DOGGR records indicate the
former dry gas well abandonment was incomplete and there was no information on
abandonment activities by the prior owner when they took responsibility of the well in 1957
which represents an environmental concern to the site.
Groundwater Wells — One domestic groundwater well and two agricultural groundwater wells
are located on the site. If wells are not properly operated and maintained, they can serve as
contamination conduits to groundwater. There is no evidence to suggest that the wells may be
contaminant pathways on the site or vicinity.
Septic System, Sump, Interior Floor Drain — A septic system was identified west of the
existing residence. One sump was observed in the existing residence basement and reportedly
connects to the existing septic system. One interior floor drain was observed in the former
break room with kitchen and reportedly connects to the existing septic system. Odors, staining
or evidence of release from the sump or floor drains were not observed. Septic systems may be
used for inappropriate disposal of hazardous substances. There is no evidence to suggest that
the existing septic systems may be contaminant pathways on the site or vicinity.
Transformers — Four pole mounted transformers were observed on the eastern and western
boundaries. The transformers are owned and serviced by Pacific Gas & Electric Company
(PG&E); however, no information with regard to PCB content of the transformer fluids was
observed. Some transformers contain mineral oil which may contain PCBs. PG&E maintains
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 12
