SEPTIC TAAW AAD LEACH FIELD
Development of the on-site septic system is to conform to the Environmental Health Division
standards of the Public Health Services of San Joaquin County. A gravity sewer system will serve
one single family residence.. A standard structurally sound and waterproof, 1600 gallon, two
compartment tank*is recommended.
The use of a garbage disposal requires periodic inspection of the tank more often than normal
use without a disposal. A gravity effluent filter should be installed with riser to the surface and
sealed did. This provides easy access to inspect and clean the filter every two years or as
indicated by periodic inspection. The 4"Biotube E,m ent Filter
.by ON or equal, is recommended. The use of this filter adds a measure ofprotection for the
leach field.
No traffic should cross the leach field area. Compaction of the soil in the leach field area
reduces the evaporation rate. Tree roots may be harmful to the leach field.
*The most efficient septic tank is the Meander Tank by Willamette Grayston Inc., Eugene, OR.
The design provides about 4 times the normal travel time in the tank This increases the
settlement of solids and provides for a higher grade of effluent to the leach field.
4.
