flood plain maps . It would be unfruitful to "guess" at their
possible outcome .
Water samples were obtained on 9/5/95 at approximately 11 : 00 and
transported to the FGL laboratory in Stockton to be analyzed for
DBCP ( dibromochloropropane ) and Nitrates . The results of those tests
revealed that DBCP was not detected ( see appendix for method and
detection limits ) and that Nitrate was detected at 9 . 8 mg/1 ( the
Maximum Concentration Level for Nitrate is 45 . 0 mg/1 ) .
PERCOLATION TESTS
Percolation tests were performed on all four of the subject parcels
in accordance with San Joaquin County "PERCOLATION TEST PROCEDURE" ,
( see appendix ) . Approximately an 8" diameter hole was excavated to
a depth of 36" and filled with water 24 hours prior to running
percolation tests . The test data , as recorded in the field, is
enclosed in appendix . A portion of the test and the results were
observed by a staff member of Environmental Health , as required by
county procedure . The results show the parcels with a percolation
rate of ; Parcel ( 1 ) 4 . 2 minutes per inch , Parcel ( 2 ) 7 . 3 minutes
per inch, Parcel ( 3 ) 5 . 0 minutes to the inch, and Parcel ( 4 ) 5 . 3
minutes to the inch.
The approximate location of the percolation tests are indicated on
the tentative parcel map in the appendix .
SOILS
Soils data was obtained from the "Soil Survey of San Joaquin County,
California" , dated October 1992 , written by the United States
Department of Agriculture .
The soils map indicates the predominant soils type is Tokay fine
sandy loam, with some Kingdon fine sandy loam along Peltier Road and
the northeastern corner of Parcel 1 , along Peltier , there is a small
intrusion of Bruella sandy loam. These soils are all well drained,
very deep soils , formed in alluvium derived from granitic rock
sources . These soils are typically brown or grayish-brown on the
surface layer ( approx . 19 inches deep) . The subsoil is grayish-
brown, brown and pale brown fine sandy loam about 26 inches deep .
The substratum is a pale brown fine sandy loam to a depth of 60
inches .
Permeability is moderately rapid in the Tokay soil . The
permeability is moderately slow in the Bruella soil . The
permeability is moderate in the Kingdon soil .
