PA-1200118 OF <br /> KUSALAKARI CORPORATION (C/O U KOSALLA) (APN: 193-220-15) <br /> (ADDRESS: 9698 S PRIEST ROAD, FRENCH CAMP) <br /> The applicant has submitted the above referenced Use Permit application for a religious <br /> assembly with a maximum of 50 members. Phase One, with building permits to be <br /> issued within 18 months, is the conversion of an existing 1,440 square foot warehouse <br /> into a 4,890 square foot assembly hall and sitting meditation building and a 1,500 square <br /> foot restroom building. Phase Two, with building permits to be issued within 10 years, is <br /> the construction of 9 meditation cabins, totaling 4,056 square feet, for use by <br /> congregation members, and a 16,900 square foot temple with an overall height of 80 <br /> feet. The existing house on site will be used by a religious elder. (Use Type: Religious <br /> Assembly-Neighborhood) <br /> The project site is located on the east side of S Priest Road, 1,000 feet south of Wyman <br /> Road, south of Stockton. <br /> The property has a General Plan designation of R/L (Low Density Residential) and is <br /> zoned AU-20 (Agriculture-Urban Reserve, 20-acre minimum). <br /> The Community Development Department has reviewed the application and offers the <br /> following comments: <br /> Daily Operation and Events <br /> The facility will be open daily for individual meditation. <br /> The facility is proposing to have six annual festivals. Each festival will last one day, <br /> beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m., with an estimated attendance of 200 to <br /> 400 people. <br /> During the month of February is Ovada Patimokkha Day, which is the celebration of the <br /> first day that the Buddha first delivered to Theravada practiced monks Patimokkha <br /> exhortation. <br /> 1 <br />
