During the month of April is Buddhist New Year Day, which is the first day of a new Buddhist calendar year. On the first full moon in May is Vesak Day, which is the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Buddha. On the first full moon day in July is Dhamma Cakka Pavattana/Vassa Day, which commemorates "the turning of the wheel of Dhamma". On the first full moon in October is the Abhidhamma Day to Sankisa, which is the welcome celebration after Buddha successfully preached the Abhidhamma Pitaka to celestial abode for three months and returned to human abode/world. During the month of November is Kathina Day, which is the celebration of the successful completion of three months retreat to monks by offering robes. Religious Classes Religious classes will be conducted every weekend from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with attendance of approximately 30 people. Summer youth classes will be held on weekdays from the last week of June to the end of August. Classes are held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No school or daycare is being proposed as a part of this project. Retreat and Meditation Sessions and Cabins The facility is also proposing to include retreat sessions in which participants attend lectures on meditation principles. The long retreats will be held approximately 4 times a year and will last for 2 weeks and the short retreats will be held approximately 5 times a year and will last for 3 days. A special one day retreat is also being proposed which will take place approximately 10 times a year. The site plan dated July 23, 2012, shows 13 meditation cabins. However, after meeting with the applicant only 9 meditation cabins are being proposed. Please include this on a revised site plan. Signs As shown on the site plan dated July 23, 2012, signs will have to be consistent with Development Title Chapter 9-1710.4 (h). One freestanding sign is permitted for each street frontage of the parcel. A monument sign can not exceed sixty (60) square feet per sign face nor exceed six (6) feet in height. A pole sign can not exceed fifty (50) square feet per sign face nor exceed twenty-five (25)feet in height. All signs must be setback a minimum of five (5) feet from any future right-of-way line. 2
