KLEINFEL DER
of grease traps, three (two compartment) tanks in series, and a mostly kitchen waste flow has
resulted in a very low nitrate concentration of the leachfield effluent. To evaluate the effect of
increasing N. on Ne, the following two computations were made with Nµ, increased to 20 mg/l
and 40 mg/l.
Nc(with N.=20 mg/1) = 2(2)(20)(.65)+5.4 = 3.9 mg/1 as N
14.8
N,(with N„=40 mg/1) = 2(2)(40)(.65)+5.4 = 7.4 mg/1 as N
14.8
Both values remain below the maximum of 10 mg/l criteria.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the above evaluation, we conclude that the wastewater produced by the proposed leach
field should not have a nitrate as nitrogen (N) concentration at he Around.1 ev
10 mg/l. The results of our percolation tests indicate that very little percolation occurs in the
near-surface clay materials, but that there are interbedded sand stratums that meet the percolation
requirements established by San Joaquin County. The exact depth of the existing seepage pits is
not known, but they were installed in about 1985/1986 at which time the maximum depth would
have been approximately 25 feet.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the existing and
proposed development and on the site conditions. It was assumed that the percolation test results
are representative of the subsurface conditions in the general area.
This completes the scope of work requested. Our work was performed in general accordance
with the standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County. No other guarantee or warranty,
expressed or implied, is made.
Respectfully submitted,
KL E LDE INC.
cn9`=ssfy,
SritdY
Z
Ron Heinzeof G.E.
$ T
Senior Principal iJ a
hp. 3.31-07
RTH:lr s,.\reKew
Attachments C, (;W
20-0268-01/ST02R886 December 5,2002
0 2002 Kleinfelder,Inc.
