September 28, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04106A
In the 1963 photo,the existing residence is now apparent in the northeast corner of the property;
a number of trees have been removed. A small pond or pen is apparent to the southwest of the
residence. The majority of the property now appears to be planted with vineyard, with only a
r, small southern portion remaining vacant or for row crops. The pond or pen noted in the
previous photo is now absent. Additional buildings have been added to the parcels carved from
the southeast corner of the property. Three large buildings, most likely a poultry farm, are
.. located across Highway 99 from the subject property.
The scale of the 1975 photo is such that it is not possible to make statements about the
arrangement of the structures on the property. A new structure is apparent to the north of the
property. The property and surrounding properties otherwise remain relatively unchanged from
the previous photo.
In the 198phptc the barn at the northeast corner of the nron rry 'c new apparent in its current
` location, while the pond or pen noted in 1963 is absent. The irrigation canal along the western
and southern property lines is no longer apparent. The agricultural portions of the property
appear to be planted uniformly with orchard. The adjacent property to the south has been
.. . planted with orchard as well.
In the 1993 photo, the existing homesite on parcel 29 of the subject property is now apparent.
The trees in the orchard have matured, but otherwise the subject property and its immediate
vicinity remain relatively unchanged from the previous photo.
These photos are included in Appendix C of this report.
2.3 USGS Topographic Maps
The topographic quadrangle depicting the subject property is the U.S. Geological Survey,
Manteca, California,quadrangle map. Two maps, a 15-minute map dated 1952 and a 7.5-minute
map dated 1952 photorevised 1987, were available at NOA.
► In the 1952 map, the subject property is depicted as primarily crop land with a vineyard making
up its eastern third. Three structures are depicted along the eastern boundary of the property.
An irrigation canal defines half of the southern boundary of the property, and a topographic
depression is indicated at the outlet of the canal. A seasonal wet area is depicted to the north of
the property. The Tidewater Southern railroad tracks define the western boundary of the
_ property, and Highway 99 defines the eastern boundary. The property is depicted as
approximately 34 feet above mean sea level and sloping down to the west at a rate of
approximately three feet per mile. Surrounding land is agricultural with scattered residences.
4
