Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study 1 ferraeon
Sun Valley Express Truck Center■ Acampo, California
August 14, 2017 ■ Terracon Project No. NA177026
After the 24-hour soak period, the deep boring P1 was found to be intact and dry on the day of
testing. Water was observed in the shallow boring P2.
1.6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
The percolation test was conducted on June 23, 2017 in accordance with the requirements of the
San Joaquin County EHD. The shallow percolation test P2 had readings taken every 30 minutes
for a duration of over 3 hours. The deep percolation test P1 had a duration of four hours with
readings taken every 30 minutes and the final 30 minutes of the test was observed by an EHD
representative which signed the percolation test form, (signature not legible).
•
Measurement of the water level during the percolation tests was from a fixed reference point on
the PVC casing using a calibrated Solinst electric water level detector with a depth accuracy of
0.01 feet. All tabulated values on the field data sheet are in decimal feet. A copy of the field data
signed by the County Inspector is included in Appendix B.
1.6.6 Percolation Test Forms and Results
The completed percolation test form with the EHD representative signature is included in
Appendix B of this report. A shallow percolation test is defined by the EHD as being between 36
and 42 inches in depth. While a deep percolation test is defined by the EHD as being between
42 inches and 25 feet in depth. The percolation test must demonstrate a satisfactory percolation
rate (less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch drop for shallow leach lines and 30 minutes per
inch or less for septic pits per SJEHD) within the existing septic system disposal field of a parcel
to utilize a standard septic system. Details of the percolation tests are summarized in the table
below.
Table 5.
Summary of Percolation Tests.
Test No. Percolation Percolation Comments
• Date Tested Test Rate Test Duration (see notes)
Depth (feet) (minutes/inch)
P1 (6-23-17) 25 14.7 240 minutes Satisfactory percolation
rate
P2 (6-23-17) 3.5 --- 195 minutes Unsatisfactory
percolation rate
Note: A satisfactory percolation rate is 60 minutes per inch or less for shallow leach lines and 30 minutes per inch or less for septic
pits per SJEHD,Onsite Wastewater Disposal Standards,October 2003.
1.6.7 Discussion of Percolation Test Results
•
Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 10
