Mr. Sandi De Jong
September 25,2003
Page 5
_ The waste water flow quantities per category are available from a number of references. The
uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin Sewage Standards (1996) and Crites and
Tchobanoglous (1998). The daily average flow rates presented in references provide general
guidance but often do not reflect a match is usage. Careful examination, professional judgement,
and experience are necessary to select a reasonable flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected
for the uses associated with this facility are presented in the following table.
Table 2.
Typical Quantity of Effluent for Various Sources.
Category Total Use per Average Quantity per Person Average Daily Flow
day
Office Employees, 8 persons 13 gal/day/person 8 people/day It 13
4 per shift,2 shifts,6 days (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998) gpd/person*6/7=89
per week
Drive-up food window 200 cars 3 gal/day/vehicle served 200 cars/day';3 *6/7
(estimated) 514
Short Order Restaurant, 50 people 3 gal/day/person fcgi 50 people/day
walk-up food window (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998) 3gpd/person*6/7= 129
Average Daily Flow: 732 gallons per day I
Notes: —6/7 is a conversion factor for scaling a 6 day work week to a 7 day work week.
—gpd is gallons per day.
to Y$
The daily waste water quantity, averaged over a typical work week, is estimated to be 732 gallons
per day. This figure is based on 200 drive up visits by cars and 50 people walking up to the
window and eating on site.
Our office recognizes that waste water generated from the site can potentially effect the required
absorption area for the septic system and potential nitrate impact to ground water. Well water
flow monitoring could be performed to determine waste water flow for the facility.
5-0
Oro
r

1 fit`' 1 1"
17. 04
o
\/ SSQL
J AA V
