1
v
June 3, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04049A
3.4 Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
In an attempt to determine the septic system density for the vicinity of the Site, our office
reviewed a 2002 aerial photograph of the Site available from Microsoft Terraserver
` (www.terraserver.microsoft.com). We counted the building clusters within one square mile
L surrounding the Site, and made the assumption that each building cluster has one septic system.
Using this method, we determined that there are a minimum of 23 septic systems per square mile
in the immediate vicinity of the Site. It should be noted, however, that a residential subdivision
and a mobile home park are located within this square mile area. Should these residential units
utilize private septic systems, several hundred more septic systems should be added to the count.
3.5 Septic and Septic Repair Permit History in the Vicinity
The following septic system permits and septic repair permits were found for the vicinity of
the Site during file review at EHD:
Table 2.
Surrounding Septic System Permit Summary.
Address,Date Tank Capacity Lines,Length,Pits Comments
4258 S.Hwy.99,7/5/94 1600 gallons (1) 100'line, (2)25' deep New installation,shop
L seepage pits building
4307 S.Highway 99, — — Addition of(1)50'line and(1)
3/28/67 25' deep seepage pit to existing
residential unit
4307 S.Hwy.99,7/9/80 1200 gallons (2) 85'lines, (2)25'deep New installation
seepage pits
4307 S.Hwy.99,7/11/01 — — Destruction of septic
tank/grease trap
4330 S.Hwy.99,2/29/63 — — Addition of(1)25' deep
seepage pit to existing
residential unit
4340 S.Hwy.99,5/24/52 — — Addition of(1)25' deep
seepage pit to existing motel
unit
4
