File No. 20-3563-01A ]' KEE1NFEEDER
March 3 , 1992
ITEM C-3 •
"The depth and gradient of the water table; "
During our residence surveys on February 27 , 1992 , we were
able to measure groundwater in five wells. The groundwater
was measured at depths varying from approximately 7 inches
(location 1 on Plate I) to approximately 7 feet (location
2 on Plate I) below existing ground surface. The
difference in depth to groundwater appears to be partially
due to variations in elevation throughout the area. The
regional groundwater depth map for spring 1991, published
by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District, Plate II, does not indicate the
depth to groundwater in this area.
Based on County requirements for a small parcel split
project, we are not required to establish an cn-site
groundwater gradient by drilling test borings. We are
providing a general estimate of the groundwater gradient
based on the regional groundwater elevation map for spring
1991, published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and
Water Conservation District, Plate III. Based on this
map, we conclude that the main groundwater gradient is in
roughly the northerly direction.
ITEM C-5•
"Other information as required by the San Joaquin Local Health
District to determine the cumulative effect of the existing and the
proposed development on groundwater contamination; "
We note that our scope of services did not include a
detailed evaluation of the potential for the septic systems
to affect the quality of groundwater. However, the project
involves only a 10-acre split from the approximate 63-acre
property. Therefore, in our opinion the likelihood of a
significant change in the nitrate level of the groundwater
beneath the site, due to one or two additional systems, is
remote. If additional more concentrated development is
planned in the area, we suggest that consideration be given
to completing a nitrate loading study.
As requested in the County "Conditions of Approval , " we
collected a water sample from the well located on site and
delivered the sample to FGL Environmental laboratory in
Stockton for nitrate content testing. The test results
will be submitted under separate cover as soon as the
results are available from FGL Environmental .
This completes our scope of work at this time. Based on the above
information, it is our opinion that the two proposed parcels are
Copyright 1992 Kleinfelder, Inc. Page 3 of 4
