Safety is a prime concern of Traylor Shea Precast, and our safety program receives the
highest attention of both management and the line personnel. Our Incident Rates are well below the
national average, and our goals continue to push our commitment to safety excellence.
Yard Surfacine
As you will note on the submitted site plan, the AC surfacing is limited to the parking lot
only. Based on our extensive experience with similar facilities and equipment,we do not use any
asphalt or concrete paving in the storage yards or around the buildings. In fact, during our property
search we specifically avoid sites with existing paving as the nature of our operation is guaranteed to
destroy any such surfaces due to the heavy duty forklifts and the heavy segment weights. Also, the
exact location of the segments in the storage yard is constantly changing as product is produced and
shipped. At times it is necessary to segregate certain segments due to manufacturing differences.
Other times the segments must be held for additional time to gain strength. These factors preclude
fixed storage arrangements, preclude fixed maneuvering lanes, and preclude the use of any surfacing
other than crushed base. The crushed base is placed, watered, and compacted to provide a stable and
flat surface. The material is specially graded to minimize dust, and we have on-site a dedicated water
truck to further minimise dust generation. We request approval of our surfacing plan as shown.
We look forward to working with you on this project. Please call the undersigned if you have
any questions.
Very truly yours,
Traylor Shea Precast,A Joint Venture
Chris Hebert
General Manager
File: SU— 13.5
GEW
DH
