SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by Manuel Tavares to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study for his property located at 19642 and 19654 South North
Ripon Road, Ripon, California (Plate 1). _
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
The proposed project is a minor subdivision to divide the Site into a three-acre homesite
parcel and a 37-acre designated remainder (Plate 2). No changes in Site use are
anticipated.
Site Description
The Site is a single parcel, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 245-150-01, approximately
40 acres in size. The Site consists of almond orchard with two houses, a barn, a pole
barn, and a small building used as an office. A domestic well supplies water to the
houses, and an irrigation well supplies water to the orchard. A recent aerial photograph
of the Site is included as Plate 3.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 65 feet above mean sea level (Plate 4). The Site topography is
relatively flat.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-40, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
LOGE 1328 Page 1
