EI Dorado Street, Stockton, CA 95202,
(209) 937-8266
Subject: City Community Development Department Response to San Joaquin
County Referral — PA-0400776 (Pre-Application)
Project Description: A General plan Text Amendment Preapplication to change the
community of Morada from an Urban Community to a Rural Community
and a General Plan Map Amendment Preapplication to change the
General Plan designation from General Agriculture to Rural Residential
for 51 acres.
Stockton General Plan Designation:
Recommendation: Denial. The City of Stockton recommends that the County deny
the General Plan Map Amendment for General Agriculture to Rural
Residential for 51 acres in the Morada area. Such an amendmentwould
be inconsistent with the City's General Plan designation of Agriculture
for the area.
The Proposed change of the existing community of Morada from Urban
Community to a Rural Community should also be denied. The Morada
area has been developed with a range of residential densities as well as
some commercial uses. It is more appropriate for this area to remain
as an "Urban Community" rather than being changed to a "Rural
Community."
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application.
JAMES E.
