SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by John Shoup of Shoup
Land Surveying to conduct a Soil Suitability Study for the Oliveira property located at
18375 North Ray Road, Lodi, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
The proposed project is a minor subdivision to split the Site into a five-acre homesite / z
parcel and a 35-acre designated remainder (Plate 2). A new residence may be i-yJ
constructed in the future on the proposed five-acre homesite parcel.
Site Description
The Site, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 011-160-40, is approximately 40 acres in
size. The County project application number is PA-1100053. The Site consists of open
agricultural land with an old milk barn, two houses, two sheds, a garage, and a domestic
well. Recent aerial photographs of the Site are included as Plates 3 and 4.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 20 feet above mean sea level (Plate 5). The Site topography is
relatively flat.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-40, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
Past Uses of the Site
Based on historical aerial photographs reviewed, the Site was developed for agriculture
in 1940 or earlier. The structures on the Site date to the 1960s or earlier; a small dairy Z i
was present on the Site at this time. Three structures were removed from the Site in the
1980s or 1990s.
LOGE 1112 Page 1
