Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System Based on review of EHD permits, it appears that two septic systems exists on the Site, 3 , one for each residence. Proposed Septic System A new residence constructed on the homesite parcel would utilize a new septic system. On-Site Septic Permit History Three permits related to septic systems for the Site address were identified at the San C3.2 3• Joaquin County Environmental Health Department: • July 1965 permit for a new residential septic system. The system utilizes one 1,200-gallon septic tank and three 60-foot leach lines. The permit indicates that an old system was to be abandoned. (Western residence) • April 1980 permit for repair to residential septic system. The repair involved one 1,200-gallon septic tank, one 100-foot leach line, and one sump. (Eastern residence) • October 1998 permit for repair to residential septic system. One 100-foot infiltrator was added to the existing system. (Western residence) These permits are included in Appendix 4. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from GoogleEarthTm was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that 20 or more septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site. (3 The general area consists of agricultural land and vineyards, with scattered rural residences. A school and a winery are located to the south of the Site. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area utilize leach lines or leach lines and sumps.
