CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> ORDER NO. <br /> WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS <br /> FOR <br /> RJM ENTERPRISES DBA <br /> BROWNS LAKE RANCH AND <br /> RIVERCREST VINEYARDS, INC. <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, (hereafter Board) finds <br /> that: <br /> 1. RJM Enterprises DBA Rivercrest Vineyards, Inc. and Browns Lake Ranch (hereafter Discharger) <br /> submitted a Report of Waste Discharge (RWD) dated 29 July 1998 for installation of a new winery <br /> and wastewater disposal system. Supplemental information was submitted through 20 August <br /> 1998. <br /> 2. RJM Enterprises owns Rivercrest Vineyard Inc. and Browns Lake Ranch. Rivercrest Vineyards is <br /> leasing the property for the winery facility. Browns Lake Ranch is the property owner. The <br /> Rivercrest Vineyard site is owned and operated by RJM Enterprises. <br /> 3. The winery is located on 16.3 acres of a 301 acre parcel (Assessor's Parcel No. 245-220-13) in <br /> Section 15, T2S,R8E,MDB&M, at 18700 East River Road, approximately 0.75 miles north and <br /> 1.75 miles east of the City of Ripon in San Joaquin County. Approximately 47 acres of the 301 <br /> acres were subdivided and dedicated to the winery, as recorded-on 7 October 1999. Approximately <br /> 177 acres are presently utilized for vineyards, the remainder of the land is almond orchards. The <br /> almond orchards may be converted to vineyards with the winery expansion. The location of the <br /> winery is shown on Attachment A,which is attached hereto and is made part of this Order by <br /> reference. <br /> 4. Activities at the winery include receiving, crushing and pressing of grapes, fermentation, <br /> processing into finished wines,bottling, and distribution. Wastewater is discharged from these <br /> activities to a process sump which pumps the wastewater to an unlined pond. Stormwater also <br /> drains to the process sump where it is pumped to the unlined pond. In addition to the process <br /> wastewater and stormwater, the unlined pond also receives irrigation water from approximately 15 <br /> acres of land served by tile drains. The unlined pond location is presented on Attachment B,which <br /> is attached hereto and made part of this Order by reference. <br /> 5. Pomace and other grape wastes(skins, seeds,pulp, and stems) from the primary fermentation <br /> process in the winery are sold commercially or are sent to adjacent vineyards (owned by Browns <br /> Lake Ranch)where they are composted and tilled into the soil.
