(CKG) is pleased to submit this subsurface investigation report to <br /> assess the potential for residual contamination at the subject site. This investigation was <br /> completed in response to a letter request by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> - Division (SJCEHD) dated September 27, 2001 and follows the "Tri-Regional Board Staff <br /> Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites". <br /> The work was performed in general accordance with CKG's work plan dated November 14, <br /> 2001. <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> Introduction <br /> The Owens-Brockway glass manufacturing facility is located at 14700 West Schulte Road in <br /> Tracy, California, (Plate 1). The facility was built in the early 1960s and includes three glass- <br /> melting furnaces, raw material storage, bottle forming, warehousing, and offices. The glass <br /> furnaces run on natural gas with electric power boost and propane backup. Process wastewater <br /> generated at the facility is treated in a series of on-site wastewater ponds. Sewage is treated in a <br /> septic system The site's water supply is provided by an onsite production well.
