File No. 20-3514-01 KLEINFELDER
September 11, 1991
Our scope of services did not include a detailed
evaluation of the potential for the septic systems to
affect the quality of groundwater. However, the project
involves only four septic systems on an approximate 9 . 8-
acre site. Therefore, with groundwater at approximately
_ 28 to 31 feet deep, the likelihood of a significant change
in the nitrate level of the groundwater beneath the site
is very remote. If additional more-concentrated
development is planned in the area, we suggest that
consideration be given to completing a nitrate loading
study.
As requested by San Joaquin County Environmental Health
personnel, we collected a water sample from the on-site
well . The sample was delivered to FGL Environmental
laboratory in Stockton for DBCP testing. The test results
will be submitted under separate cover as soon as the
results are received from the laboratory.
_ This completes our scope of work at this time. Based on the above
information, it is our opinion that the four proposed parcels are
suitable for septic system use. However, perched groundwater on
- the silt soils or leach lines extending into the silt soils could
significantly restrict percolation.
The septic systems should be located and future wells should be
constructed following county requirements. Continuous monitoring
of the septic systems should be maintained throughout the duration
of their use. Once this report is reviewed by Environmental
Health Services, we would be pleased to furnish a proposal for
providing whatever additional information they may require for
their evaluation.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The review of plans and specifications, field observations, and
testing by Kleinfelder, Inc. are an integral part of the
conclusions and recommendations made in this report. If
Kleinfelder, Inc. is not retained for these services, the client
agrees to assume Kleinfelder, Inc. 's responsibility for any
potential claims that may arise during construction. The required
tests, observations, and consultation by Kleinfelder, Inc. during
construction includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
1 . Continuous observation and testing during site
preparation and grading and placement of
Engineered Fill .
Copyright 1991 KLeinfelder, Inc. Page 11 of 13
