June 4, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04065A
i
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
L 5.1 Geology
The Site is depicted on the USGS Geologic Map of the San Francisco-San Jose Quadrangle (1991)
L as within the Pleistocene Riverbank Formation (Plate 8). This map unit consists of reddish
gravel, sand, and silt forming alluvial terraces.
ift 5.2 Soil Properties in the Vicinity
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the San Joaquin County
6' Soil Survey to be composed of San Joaquin loam, thick surface, 0 to 2 percent slopes, with a
small area of Bruella sandy loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes (Plate 7) (USDA, 1992). Table 3
` presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 3.
Selected Soil Properties of the Surrounding Area
San Joaquin County Soil Survey Report.
LSoil Name Depth(in) Unified Soil Salinity Soil Septic tank
and Map Classification mmhos/cm Reaction absorption
` Symbol pH fields
` Bruella sandy 0-18:Sandy loam. Soil conditions were found to be
comparable at the two locations. Table 4 presents the soil log for the percolation test holes.
k
7 "004
