December 23,2002
Job Number: LG02-492
Page 10
V
Table 5.
Summary of Nitrate Mass Balance Analysis.
L
 z
.a
R d
`
x_
x a. u W
z gg a v
zU e e a
z z
1.02 306.75 85.7 45 25 6.84 LO
*Note:Maximum contaminate level(MCL)for Nitrate is 10 mg(L-N and 45 mg/L as NO3. Please note that the
average septic waste water level of 45 mg/L-N is not related to the drinking water MCL of 45 mg/L as NO,.
6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
` In conclusion, a satisfactory percolation test was performed on the parcel. According to San
Joaquin County depth to ground water maps, the depth to ground water in the area is less than 10
feet. The test results indicates that DBCP was non-detectable(ND) and nitrate as NO3 was 33.8
mg/L (7.5 mg/L-N). The result of the nitrate test indicates the ground water is below the
maximum contaminate level set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency of 45
mg/L-NO3 for nitrate(or 10 mg/L as Nitrate N).
The nitrate loading analysis utilizing the Hantzsche and Finnemore method has shown that the
use of a septic system with six employees will not cause a build up of nitrogen in the shallow
aquifer above the maximum contaminate level of 10 mg/L-N. The result of the analysis is the
nitrate level for the property is 1.02 mg/L-N (Nc variable in the Hantzsche and Finnemore
6- equation shown on Plate 9). Based on the results of this study, the proposed project is suitable
for use with a standard type septic system.
7.0 LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the existing and
` proposed development, the use of the subject property, and the site conditions as they existed at
the time we excavated our test holes and performed the percolation tests. It was assumed that the
` test holes and percolation test results are representative of the subsurface conditions in the
general area.
jOF4S
4
O
A
,SSOC\
