... k' ■ KLEINEELDER
5 EVALUATIONS
Kleinfelder performed this site Reconnaissance Update of the subject site in conformance with
the scope and limitations of ASTM Practice E1527-00. In summary, Kleinfelder's assessment
revealed the following information about the subject site:
5.1. FINDINGS
-- The following sections describe Kleinfelder's findings and provide a general background
information about the site. Findings include recognized environmental conditions, historically
recognized environmental conditions, and deminimus quantities, as applicable to the subject site.
In summary:
5.1.1. Background Information
According to Kleinfelder's site reconnaissance, the western portion of the subject site has been
used as a fallow field with no structures. Thornton Road is present trending north/south,
connecting the two portions of the site. The eastern portion of the site has been used as a vacant
field and a vineyard (approximately the northern 15 acres).
5.1.2. Findings
• Potential for buried Asbestos Cement Pipe ("Transite").
• Agricultural chemical use on the site.
• Commercially a fast-food restaurant (Burger King) has been constructed on site since
Kleinfelder's prior Phase I ESA.
• Trash pits are present in the northwestern section of the vacant field of the eastern lot.
• Empty 55-gallon drum labeled as containing Carbdiesel No.2.
• A soil pile was observed in the western portion of the site. The soil pile was approximately
10 feet in diameter by 1 foot in height and appeared to be native from surrounding soils. No
evidence of hazardous materials was noted associated with the soil pile.
• A domestic well was being installed at the northeast corner of the vacant field in the eastern
portion of the site.
18470.POI /ST02R285 Page 12 of 14
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder.Inc July 30,2002
