Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system currently exists on the Site. The system serves the residence and
utilizes leach lines and seepage pits.
Proposed Septic System .
According to the proposed site plan, the renovated agricultural building will utilize a new
septic system to serve a small restroom.
On-Site Septic Permit History
One septic system installation permit was found for the on-site residence at the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. In March 1991 a new system was
installed at the 3-bedroom residence. The new system utilizes a 1,600-gallon tank, two
85-foot leach lines, and two 36-inch diameter by 25-foot deep sumps. No permits for
septic system repairs were identified for the Site.
One permit for a domestic water well was also identified for the site. All permits for the
property are attached in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To determine the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo
imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we determined that there is a
minimum of 96 septic systems per square mile in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of farmland, vineyards, and rural residential properties.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area
appear to utilize leach lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in
Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE1003 Page 2
