Quarterly Monitoring Report—First Quarter of 2009 Page 5
TURNER ROAD VINTNERS April 30,2009
WKA No. 5279.03
_ 0.31 feet msl in MW3 to+3.05 feet msl in MW2. It should be noted that MW3 is located on the
East Facility, nearly 3,300 feet apart from the other monitoring wells.
The direction of groundwater flow on February 4, 2009 was calculated to be southeasterly at a
gradient of 0.0007 feet per feet. Figure 3 depicts estimated groundwater elevation equipotential
contours and water levels at the site as measured on February 4, 2009. Historically, groundwater
flow has been primarily east-southeast at a relatively flat gradient.
5.2 Site Water Quality Conditions
A summary of groundwater quality conditions, as determined by chemical analyses of the
required constituents of concern, is presented in summary form in Table 3. A summary of the
most recent analyses are presented below:
• pH in the sample set ranged from 6.60 in MW5 to 7.31 in MW3;
• TDS concentrations in the sample set ranged from 460 milligrams per liter (mg/L)
in MWl to 1,200 mg/L in MW4 and MW5;
• Nitrate-as-nitrogen was below the laboratory-reporting limit of 0.50 mg/L in
MW 1, MW2, and MW5. Nitrate-as-nitrogen was detected in the sample set at
4.2 mg/L in MW4 and at 21 mg/L in MW3.
Table 3 is a summary of historical groundwater analyses results from the site and includes the
most recent laboratory results. Time series plots of the parameters TDS (plus groundwater
elevation) for each of the monitoring wells are included as Charts 1 through 5. Appendix B
includes the laboratory report for this sampling event and a copy of the chain-of-custody.
5.3 Data Quality
All samples were received by the laboratory under documented chain-of-custody. United States
Environmental Protection Agency SW-846 (EPA 2000) protocols for sample storage and
preservation were followed. Qualifiers were attached to all pH results since the samples
exceeded the analytical method hold time.
Based on the results of laboratory analyses and review of sampling procedures, laboratory
quality assurance and quality control, and review of historical analytical results, the data appears
adequate for the use intended.
