Quarterly Monitoring Report Page 2
TURNER ROAD VINTNERS
WKA No. 5279.03
March 31, 2005
99-103 requirements. Wallace Kuhl and Associates (WKA) installed two additional monitoring
wells (MW4 and MW5) in August 2004.
Topography in the vicinity of the site is relatively flat, with elevations decreasing very gradually
from east to west. According to the USGS Thornton 7.5-minute topographic quadrangle (1968,
revised 1993),the East Facility has surface elevations of about 20 to 25 feet above mean sea
level and the West Facility has surface elevations of about 10 to 18 feet above mean sea level.
Groundwater Monitoring
First-quarter groundwater monitoring was performed at the site on January 17, 2005. The
groundwater monitoring activities included measuring the depth to groundwater, purging, and
collecting groundwater samples for laboratory analysis.
Prior to sampling, each well was purged of approximately three casing volumes. Groundwater
samples were then obtained using an electric submersible pump and low-density polyethylene
(LDPE)tubing. Samples were collected in preserved, analyte-specific sampling containers
provided by the analytical laboratory. Samples were immediately placed in an ice-chest
containing ice and submitted under Chain-of-Custody documentation to a California Department
of Health Services-certified laboratory for analysis as follows:
MW through MW3 total dissolved solids, nitrate as nitrogen, specific
conductivity, pH using EPA 6000/7000 Series
MW4 and MW5 General Minerals (total dissolved solids, nitrate as nitrogen,
specific conductivity, pH, calcium, chloride, magnesium,
sodium, nitrate, sulfate, hardness, and total alkalinity
including alkalinity series)using EPA 6000/7000 Series
Well monitoring and purging equipment was cleaned prior to use in each well. Equipment
cleaning rinsate and water purged from the wells was disposed in the aeration ponds on site.
Well Purging Data Sheets are attached in Appendix A. Chain-of-Custody documentation and
laboratory analytical reports are presented in Appendix B.
`NK
WALLACE-KUHL
Er ASSOCIATES INC.
