6. Submersible Pumps <br /> Two submersible pumps were installed that pick up the tail wastewater and force the <br /> wastewater through the return systems. <br /> ?. Electrical Work <br /> Quaresma hired N&S Electrical Company from Ripon, California,to install electrical <br /> work and pump for the return system. Quaresma worked with PG&E to get access of the <br /> utility power. <br /> 8. Cement Catch Boxes <br /> Quaresma installed two areas of catch cement boxes. This enables the dairy to stop the <br /> flow of wastewater run and to control where the wastewater goes. <br /> 9. Manure Storage <br /> A large cement area 150' by 100' was constructed to hold manure product. The storage <br /> area drains back into the pond. Quaresma also set up too areas of storage with the "Fly <br /> Ash"for base P thick. It also drains moisturblaldc M1•o the pond. <br /> 10. Clean Drainage Ditches <br /> Quaresma hired an excavator(large backhoe)to clean out all drainage ditches. This <br /> allows tail wastewater to run promptly and district water to leave the fields promptly. <br /> 11. Wastewater Meter <br /> Quaresma bought a wastewater meter from Western United Dairyman to monitor the <br /> wastewater. <br /> 12 Coordination with San Joaquin County <br /> Quarestna worked with the San Joaquin Environmental Health Department to resolve the <br /> issues they had had with the accidental spill. In addition, Quaresma hired Don Chesney, <br /> an environmental engineer, to continue to review wastewater practices to ensure full <br /> compliance with the applicable law and regulations. Quaresma continues to work with <br /> Turlock Dairy Service, Modem Dairy Service, and Western United Dairy Service to keep <br /> up to speed on the latest developments in the dairy industry. Finally, Quaresma hired an <br /> attorney firm from Stockton called Herum, Crabtree, Brown,Dyer, Zolezzi&Terpstra <br /> that worked to settle the litigation filed by the California Attorney General relating to the <br /> accidental spill that occurred in March of 1998. The firm also worked with Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board to address the issues raised in the Cease and Desist Order. <br />
