INTRODUCTION <br /> Our office was contracted by Mr. Mohammed Khan to conduct a Soil Suitability/Nitrate <br /> Loading Study(SS/NLS) for a 9.78 acre parcel located at 5741 Verigin Road in Manteca, <br /> California(Plate 1). This study was required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Division for project approval. The assessors parcel number for the subject parcel is (APN) 197- <br /> 120-02. The San Joaquin County approval number for the project is PA-02-6. <br /> The soil suitability/nitrate loading study was conducted to determine whether the soils are <br /> suitable for the use of a septic system and to estimate whether the proposed project will impact <br /> ground-water quality. Major elements of the field work included one(1)percolation test drilled <br /> on the parcel. The percolation test was required by San Joaquin County Public Health Services. <br /> An examination of the published soil information, geologic maps, and available ground water <br /> information, exploratory borings,percolation rates, and permit review was performed to <br /> complete the investigation. <br /> II. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT <br /> The project site is located along the north side of Verigin Road, 2,500 feet east of State <br /> Highway Route 99 M lifomia(Plate 1). The project involves raising and the care of <br /> approximat 12,000 egg laying hickens within two (2)poultry houses on a 30,000 SF portion <br /> of the prop <br /> According to a manure management plan prepared for Mohammad Khan, we understand <br /> that the waste generated from the poultry houses will be removed from the premise within seven <br /> (7) days or stored inside unused chicken houses. The floors of the chicken houses will be <br /> concrete. The waste product will be sold or taken by haulers or customers. We understand the <br />
