o
MUSCO FAMILY OLIVE COMPANY AND THE STUDLEY COMPANY -5-
WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND LAND DISPOSAL FACILITY
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
INSPECTION REPORT
I
The 95-Acre field was nearly devoid of plant life
(Figure 10). Musco staff stated that the field would
be replanted this winter, probably in December or
January. Drainage from the northern portion of the
field is through another railroad culvert into the pond.
Severe erosion gullies were observed throughout the
field. Regional Board staff requested a copy of the
k:
current Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan for the
site and suggested that Musco might wish to seek k '_ ; : Ira
assistance in addressing their erosion control
problems. Musco staff asked if Regional Board staff
E were aware of any consultants in the stormwater field _.
that could be of assistance to them, and Regional
Board staff forwarded a list of three consultants to
Mr. Leikam on 13 October 2406. Figure 10—Field 95
Field 55 West was observed from the top of the 95-Acre
Rills a a field and from the base of the field near the aerated
reservoir. While NyPa Forage appeared to be living in
this field, growth and spreading were poor. Wattles had
been placed across the slope, but with pre-existing
` erosion gullies present for stormwater and tailwater to
Wattles i ,, .. travel under the wattles, these are ineffective (Figure
t 11). Musco staff commented that two boxes had been
installed in this field, each designed to allow gravity to
:. return flows to the reservoir.
Growth of NyPa Forage in field 55 East was also
minimal. Standing water was noted along the bottom of
Figure 11—wattles on 55 West the field, next to the bypass channel.
Ten brush aerators were in operation in the reservoir on the date of
the inspection. One additional aerator was beached. A large
sediment delta was observed around the inlet pipe to the reservoir
(Figure 12). When asked by Regional Board staff about removal of
the sediment, Mr. Hall stated that he thought the pond would be
particularly low next summer and that the delta could be scraped
out then.
Figure 12—Sediment Delta in Reservoir
