This memo is divided into four
major sections-
1.
ections:1. Background — General description of the site with details about the different wastewater
disposal areas and the monitoring well network.
2_ Review of Groundwater Data —A detailed evaluation of the groundwater data and its
relationship to many of the disposal areas.
3. Review of Background Water Quality Report — A review of evaluations and conclusions
submitted by Musca on the background water quality at the facility.
i 4. Recommendations — Staff recommendations to establish background concentrations
and develop a monitoring system that truly evaluate the total groundwater impacts.
It is important to rote the Musca site is situated in a complicated geologic environment where
high strength wastewater and/or Pond solids have been land applied since early 1980. Since
no onsite groundwater data exists prior to the installation of the 13 groundwater monitoring
wells in 2002 predischarge groundwater quality at the Musco property was not established.
Background
Site Description
Musco Family Olive Company processes approximately one-half the total table olive crop in
the State. The site is located at 17950 Via Nicolo, southwest of Highway 580 and has been
California Environmental Protection Agency
p pia Recycled Paper
l
