Musco Family Olive Company - 23 - 12 December 2006
6. Staff recommends that Musco sampling begin the artesian well noted on the
g p 9
Topographic Ma for the CDCs listed in Monitoring and Reporting Program
P 9 p 9 9
No. R5-2002-0148. .
7_ Staff recommends that Musco install additional shallow monitoring wells into the first
encountered groundwater in the vicinity of well MW-4, MW-7, and MW-8. Staff also
recommends Musco either drill out, reconstruct, or install a new shallow well in the
vicinity of well MW-10 and well MW-13.
'8. Staff recommends Musco install companion monitoring wells in the vicinity of well
MW-6 and well MW-9. The companion monitoring well to MW-6 should be installed to
a depth that monitors the shallow groundwater. The companion monitoring well to
i MW-9 should be installed to monitor the deep groundwater zone similar to wells MW-12
and.MW-18. Staff also recommends an additional deep monitoring well be installed
south of the drainage swale near the eastern property boundary, splitting the distance
between well MW-10 and the Hanson Well.
i
i 9. Staff recommends Musco perform a groundwater analysis of sulfate concentrations
associated with wells MW-7 and MW-12 to determine the origin of elevated sulfate and
other COCs detected in these wells. This analysis should incorporate data from all
existing and newly constructed monitoring wells.
10_Based on an evaluation of CDCs detected in monitoring wells adjacent to and
downgradient of the 1 million gallon pond and Reservoir, it appears that impounded
wastewater has infiltrated the low permeable soil layers of the wastewater storage
areas and has impacted groundwater. The Discharger shall propose measures to
prevent further leakage of wastewater by 31 January 2007-
11. Staff, recommends that new monitoring wells to be installed no later than May 2007 by
a California licensed C57 well driller. Musco shall schedule groundwater sampling from
the background monitoring well(s). Musco shall collect a minimum of eight groundwater
samples by the end of the third quarter 2007 and develop WQPS by 1 December 2007.
The first monitoring well should be sampled within 72 hours after well completion. The
WQPS shall be submitted with the 2007 Annual Monitoring Report due 31 January
2008.
TADIWISan JoaquinlMuscolLettersvMemo GW15_musco(1006)
i
