The
specifications of the septic system repair, designed and engineered specifically for the
conditions at this site, are detailed in a report by Neil O. Anderson & Associates, dated
April 16, 2003. In addition, unless otherwise specified in the engineered plans, the
septic repair must meet the minimum requirements of the San Joaquin County Sewage
Standards (Sewage Standards). Piease be advised that several insufficiencies were
noted during the inspection. These insufficiencies are listed below for your information.
1. The final 2000-gallon septic tank in the series of tanks proposed in the permit
lacks the solid wail with an inverted sewer pipe in place, as detailed on the
engineered plans. This tank must be repaired or replaced to meet this
specification.
2. Laser measurements of each leach line showed slopes ranging from 6 inches to
24 inches over the 95-foot length. Pursuant to the engineered specifications, the
maximum slope for each leach line is '/4 inch.
3. The distribution boxes installed at the site have an open bottom. Section 8.2 of
the Sewage Standards requires a watertight distribution box. Section 8.2.3
requires the distribution box to have a solid impervious bottom.
4. The tight line between the leach line and seepage pits slopes down towards the
seepage pits on most of the leach lines. Section 8.8.1 of the Sewage Standards
requires the terminal end of the tight line be elevated 4 inches above the end.of
the leach line.
5. Several leach lines show an inadequate soil barrier between the end of the leach
line and the seepage pit. The soil barrier must be sufficient toprevent the
leakage of wastewater from the leach line to the seepageSection 8.8.1 of
the Sewage Standards requires the pit barrier trench to be undisturbed soil below
the grade line of the tight line (see bulleted item above).
