ON
Septic System Expansion - r n Page No.2
Musco Family Olive Co.
June 13,2003
Summary of Leach Line Elevation Differences Between Beginning and End
2"d Leach Field(New)
No.Leach line 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Elevation Diff. (in.) 5.4 16.8 15.0 9.6 14.4" 25.8 22.2 15.8
3`d Leach Field (New)
No. Leach line 1 2:j 3 4 5 6 7 8
Elevation Diff.(in.) 12.6 11.4 9 9 10.2 12.6 12 6.6
These, elevation differences are of the leach line piping as currently laid. A return visit was made
to spot check the elevation difference of the bottom of the leach trench. This was accomplished
by probing through the gravel until encountering the subgrade soil. It was found that the trench
bottoms also sloped, but it was slightly less then the piping slope.
It is concluded that as long as the elevation difference of an individual leach line is 7,inches or
less, then no corrective measure is necessary for the trench bottom. However,if the elevation
difference is greater then 7 inches then the installation of a"soil dike" and additional pipe
penetrations are necessary to help retain effluent in the upper portions of the trench. Soil dikes
and pipe penetrations should be installed as shown on the attached"As-Built' drawing. In
addition, the end of each leach line piping should be elevated 4 inches to create a"sag"in the
leach line so that effluent can exit it before reaching the dry well.
Item 2
The invert elevations of the exiting pipes of the distribution boxes were checked and found to
vary as much as 1 inch. The distribution boxes should be re-leveled to maintain an invert
elevation difference no greater then 0.25 inch. The distribution boxes contain cracks and require
a mastic seal placed within each distribution box.
Item 3
The baffle in the 5' septic tank should be "bricked"closed and the pipe penetration and elbow
should be installed as indicated on Detail Plan for Septic System, Plate 1D, revised May 13,
2003.
9ER2
1
f`
SOE
