Mr . Ted Norgard - 3 - August 28 , 1995
Because percolation rates measured at several of the test
holes were in excess of the six inches in 30 minutes ( 12
inches/hour ) rate listed in criteria for the use of
Procedure U . Percolation rate tests were repeated using
Procedure #3 on the test hole at each of the parcels
showing showing the lowest percolation rate , Hole #4 and
Hole # 2 .
Results for these tests , based on field measurements
shown on data sheets included as Attachment C , Page 5 .
Results were as follows : Parcel #1 , Hole #4 , the rate was
7 . 2 in/hr or 8 . 33 minutes/inch and for Hole #2 on Parcel
#2 the rate was 7 . 8 in/hr or 7 . 7 minutes/inch.
11 ( 3 ) "The depth and gradient of the water table; "
The San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District ( SJCFC&WCD) measures the depth to
water and prepares maps showing "Lines of Equal Depth to
Water in Wells" , as well as maps showing "Lines of Equal
Elevation of Water in Wells" . Copies of the latest avail-
able versions of these maps have been used to reply to
the above question.
Attachment D - 1 ( two sheets ) is a copy of the SJCFC&WDD
map showing Lines of Equal Depth to Water in Wells" , for
Spring 1994 . The location of the property under study is
shown by a red dot on Attachment D - 1 , Sheet #2 showing
a portion of the map for the entire county. The property
is located about midway between the line for the 80 foot
depth and the line for the 90 foot depth . Thus , the
depth to water at the Simpson property was approximately
85 feet at the time that measurements were made by the
SJCFC&WCD in the spring of 1994 .
Attachment D - 2 ( two sheets ) shows "Lines of Equal
Elevation of Water in Wells , as measured by the SJCFC&WCD
in the spring of 1994 . The location of the Simpson
property is shown by a red dot on sheet #2 of this
portion of the map for the entire county. Direction of
ground water movement at this point is southeast toward
a depression in the water table several miles away in
that direction. Slope is about 15 feet per mile .
A more general interpretation of the lines of equal ele-
vation suggests that the general movement of ground water
underlying the Simpson property would be in a general
southerly direction toward a larger depression in the
ground water table under the eastern part of the City of
Stockton.
