No shallow or perched water was encountered during digging of the test holes . The numbers shown in the "DEPTH TO FIRST WATER" spaces indicate the amount of water, in inches , that was placed in each hole the evening before for the presoak. The four test holes were presoaked by filling with water the evening before the tests were made . All were dry the following morning when the first set of percolation rate tests were started.
