Since the quantity of sludge was so small we were having a regular
septic tank pump truck haul a load into either the City of Stockton
or Sacramento. However, since the Regional Water Quality has
increased the testing requirement per load of sludge the cost is
prohibitive. The cities are reluctant to accept the sludge.
Should this become a problem, a drying bed will have to be
established and the sludge dried and accumulated in sufficient
quantity, for companies dealing in sludge fertilizers, to take it
and use in their projects.
3 . Public Contact: Title 22 has been evoked in the design of the
BioPure process providing a tertiary effluent with almost drinking
water standards.
Using a coagulant ahead of the filter, plugs the filter and causes
more problems than it ' cures. In our system the filters are
frequently back washed allowing a good filtering process.
Turbidity due to dyes in the wastewater are most difficult to
remove but suspended solids are no problem.
Human contact is relatively nil since the water in planters and
around trees will be dispersed below woodchips. When the water
rises the wood chips rise, all other irrigation will take place in
the night and should be infiltrated prior to anyone coming in
contact with it.
4 . Public Entity Owning: We have no problem with a public entity
owning the plant. However, finding a public entity with _so few
systems in operation at the present time is a problem. We will
work with the county and the irrigation district. Regardless of
who owns the plant we will have a trained and certified operator on
the site. We are hoping if we supply and pay for an operator the
county will agree to owning the plant.
5. Environmental Quality Act: We have made application with the
county and they will either do an EIR or provide a negative
declaration.
Should you require more information, please contact us immediately.
Sincerely,
ROSE'S ENGINEER -GEOLOGY & SURVEY INC.
;Me)=.
