ROSE ' S Engineering - Geology & Survey Inc.
9070 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624 (916) 686-5445
April 5, 1993
Isaac Kaing, Area Engineer
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 9582f3098
RE: Reply to correspondence 12 Mach 1993 , Barnyard RV Park and
Business Complex, San Joaquin County.
Dear Mr. Kaing:
Enclosed is our reply to your concerns in the above mentioned
correspondence.
1. Reclamation Water Management Plan: We have stated in the
original application the system of reclaiming the wastewater.
Also, included was an explanation of using the tertiary reclaimed
water for irrigation of the planter strips along with the
Interstate 5 side slope for a distance of 2000 feet. Cal Tans has
given us the green light on preparing a plan to landscape and
irrigate the slopes.
The total area to be irrigated is 148 , 071 square feet or
approximately 3 .5 acres. During the summer months each irrigation
period will dispose of more than the daily input. The irrigation
periods can be every other day or even every third day. The
attached exhibit show the water balance. The pond storage based on
45, 105 gallons per day would be 30. 5 days. However, if we take the
wet months into consideration using 29 , 105 gallons per day the
storage capacity may be stretched to 47 days. The balance sheet
shows the necessity to apply some potable water during the dry
'months to keep the vegetation green. The reclaimed water has to be
used on the highway slopes, therefore, the potable water will be
used on site. It must be noted the RV Park will have only minimum
use during the wet months and therefore, not included in the
reclaimed water for disposal . The amount of water for irrigation
certainly is less. As long as we have some non rainy days during
the month, water can be dispersed extending the holding capacity of
the pond. Calculation show the pond capacity, - during the winter,
to be for 47 days maximum and for 30 days during the summer flow.
Included with Exhibit A we have Chapter 900 Landscape Architecture
Plan for Cal Trans. The over all planting on the slopes will be
done by a licensed landscape architect and will be approved by Cal
Trans.
2 . Sludge Management: The sludge production is explained in the
original application and as stated it is calculated according to
Dr. Kerri formula given in the books he authored. The sludge- is
removed only when the settleometer reading is over 50%. Otherwise
we continue to circulate it as a food source for new cell growth.
