SAN JOAQUIN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION
MEETING TODAY'S CHALLENGES/ PLANNING FOR TOMORROW
May 29, 2019
Giuseppe Sanfilippo
San Joaquin County Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: PA -1800301 (AE)
Dear Mr. Sanfilippo:
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation is a private, non-profit agricultural advocacy
organization. We have been committed to the protection and growth of agriculture in San
Joaquin County for over 100 years. The aforementioned project for an excavation project on
agriculturally zoned land deeply concerns us.
The project calls for the excavation and removal of 97,000 cubic yards of material over a two
year period. This is a concern because this is a large amount of material and for it to be removed
from the site there will be many trucks coming and going. We are concerned about the intensity
of increased traffic in the area. Also, increased intensity will lead to the use of more water for the
project which could lead to runoff of poor quality water.
Additionally, though this project has an end date in two years, we have seen many excavation
projects request time extensions for their project. Such actions delay the reclamation of the land
for agricultural purposes, which should always be the end goal of excavation projects on
agriculturally zoned lands.
We ask that if this project moves forward, it does so with specific annual excavation parameters
to better regulate the intensity of the project and ensure that the land will be reclaimed in two
years,
Sincerely,
Grit-%
President
3290 NORTH AD ART ROAD • (209) 931-4931 • STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA 95215
