GROUNDWATER INFORMATION
The Map-Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater indicates water at approximately 10 feet. No
water was observed seeping into the 10 foot profile hole. The domestic well at 5730 was tested X
by FarWest Labs, Inc., and the test results are included in this report. No third party was involved
in the sampling and testing. The lab analysis of the well water indicate 180 mg/1 of Nitrates and
<0.01 ug/1 of DBCP. The lab report is included. The owner was informed of the test results. It is
our understanding he is considering reverse osmosis equipment at the well versus each residence
having the equipment installed. The finance parcel will have a new well.
SOIL PROFILE INFORMATION,/'
Four shallow holes, 6" in diameter were hand augured to a depth of 42". One of the four was later
augured to a depth of 10'. No pits were dug. The soil was classified as it was removed from the
holes. The general soil map of San Joaquin County indicates the soil component is Tokay. (Fine
sandy loam) The soil observed was non-plastic to approximately 35"- 40". Below that was a thin
layer of sandy clay, 42"48", silty, clayey sand to 9' and dense sandy clay to 10'.
PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
The Parcel Map included locates the percolation test hole. The site is vacant Only shallow holes
were tested due to high water table. Four holes were augured. One was filled in and covered by
gophers. On 4125105 the three remaining holes were sleeved with 4" PVC after placing two inches
of gravel on the bottom. Additional gravel was placed around the sleeve. The holes were 6" in
diameter. The presoak began on Tuesday, at 0900, April 26, 2005, by placing 12 inches of water
in each hole. The testing began on April 27 at 0900. The three holes were dry. Six inches of
water was added to each hole. No visable damage from the gophers was observed. Only one hole
was observed by the representative from the EHD, SJC. The percolation rate was satisfactory and
observed by Lisa Medina, Sr. REHS. The test conformed to SJC Policy EHD 02-02. The owner
plans to construct a 5 bedroom residence. The site is in the yellow zone and requires 100 LF of
standard trench, or equivalent, for each bedroom. A 2000 gallon tank is required or multiple
1200 gallon tanks..
CONCLUSION
The testing conducted, field exploration and research completed are indicative of satisfactory soil
for residential on site septic purposes. A large population of gophers exists on the site. The
standard trench, with gravel/rock would be more resistant to damage by the movement of soil by
the gophers. The 2.3 acre parcel is adequate in size to accommodate an on site septic system, for
residential purposes, installed by permit from the EHD, SJC.
2.
