Based on information
provided by the property owner, the only historical uses of the site have been related to
agriculture, and no commercial or residential purposes are known.
3. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
SJCEHD files were searched to identify septic permits at parcels in the project vicinity. There
were no permits on file for the parcels proposed for development. Eleven permits were
reviewed for six parcels located adjacent to or near the subject property. These permits were
for new installations and repairs/additions to existing septic systems. Each of the permitted
sewage disposal systems was for conventional septic/leach field systems with 25-foot deep
seepage pits. A summary of the permit information is presented on Plate 3, and copies of the
permits are attached.
4. GROUNDWATER
Groundwater was not encountered in our soil profile boring drilled for this investigation. Lines
of Equal Depth to Groundwater contour maps published in groundwater reports by the San
Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (1981 to 1999) show
groundwater levels in the project area ranging from about 65 to 90 feet below ground surface.
_ Based on Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater contour maps, the groundwater gradient in
the project area is generally from southwest to northeast. Local gradient variations may occur
due to well usage.
The on-site well is not connected, and groundwater is not currently used at the site. We
understand that the well will be destroyed prior to the construction of homes. As wells are
_ proposed to be constructed on each lot, we anticipate that the predominant use of groundwater
will be for domestic and landscaping purposes.
As the on-site well is not connected, samples of groundwater were not tested. No permits for
the well are on file with SJCEHD, and details of well construction are not known to us at this
time.
We do not know of groundwater contamination issues at the project site at this time. Potential
sources of groundwater contamination include storage tanks located at Jahant Food and Fuel,
which is located across Highway 99 Frontage Road from the site, and at the Lodi Airport,
which is located within approximately '/z mile to the south of the study area. The potential
exists for groundwater to be contaminated through the use of pesticides and herbicides
previously used on the subject property and on nearby farmland. Potential sources of nitrate to
soil and groundwater include fertilizer and septic usage of the single-family residences in the
project area. No dairies are located adjacent to the subject property.
52709.GOI15TWR550 May 9,2005
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc. Page 2 of 7
