MAY 262011
Personnel Training SAW,10.^,
The company provides a variety of training to all personnel, including comprehensive
training for new hires appropriate to the position, followed by refresher training at
specified intervals. This is summarized in the company's Injury and Illness Prevention
Program (IIPP) under Employee Training, a copy of which is attached.
The company maintains individual files for each employee. These contain necessary
administrative information, in addition to the following:
• Records of all initial training received.
• Acknowledgment of receipt of training and company policies and procedures.
• List of handbooks and other information received.
• List of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued to the individual.
Refresher training is generally provided quarterly; topics are varied to ensure broad
reinforcement over time. Records are maintained on a group basis for this training.
Topics include Hazardous Materials, MSDS, Heat Stress, Confined Space Entry, Lock-
out Tag -out, Spill Prevention, Slug Discharge Prevention, etc. On some occasions,
summary write ups are handed out — a couple of examples are attached.
For wash rack operators and wastewater pretreatment plant operators, the following
training is required:
• Hazardous materials management, including use of Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDS) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Emergency procedures, including plant shut down, spills and spill clean up, fire
and evacuation, notification of emergency responders.
• Discharge criteria, slug prevention, storm water pollution prevention.
Training records are being revised to include name and job title of each employee,
written job description, and description of training given.
