GEOTECHNICAL
ENGEO ENVIRONMENTAL
WATER RESOURCES
Expect Excellence CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Project No.
6282.002.000
May 31, 2018
Mr. Jefferson Hill
CHI Development Group LLC
527 W. 711 Street, Suite 308
Los Angeles, CA 90014
Subject: South Lathrop Commerce Center(SLCC)
Monitoring Wells MW-S1 through MW-S5
Lathrop, California
WORK PLAN FOR WELL ABANDONMENT
Dear Mr. Hill:
As requested, ENGEO has prepared this work plan for monitoring well abandonment at the subject
site, located within the South Lathrop Commerce Center(SLCC)development in Lathrop, California.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The subject wells are located south of Madruga Road in Lathrop on the parcels identified as
APN 241-02-070 for MW-S1 and APN 241-03-013 for MW-S2 through MW-S5.
The wells to be abandoned are identified as MW-S1, MW-S2, MW-S3, MW-S4 and MW-S5. The
wells were installed by ENGEO in 2004 to monitor groundwater levels and water quality at the site.
The wells are approximately 20 feet deep and consist of 2-inch PVC well screen and casing
protected by stainless steel stand pipes set in concrete. The wells are screened approximately
from 10 to 20 feet below the ground surface (bgs). It is our understanding that the wells are in an
area planned for new construction. The subject wells are to be destroyed and abandoned in
accordance with San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department requirements.
San Joaquin County records indicate that groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the site has no
known contamination.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The well destruction will include completely overdrilling the well to remove existing well materials
and tremie backfilling the hole with neat cement, under the observation of a San Joaquin County
Environmental Health representative.
We will coordinate with a licensed drilling contractor to overdrill the well to a depth of
approximately 20 feet bgs, or the bottom of the previous borings, whichever is deeper. Drilling will
be accomplished using a truck-mounted hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with 8-inch-diameter
augers in order to remove the annular seal around the well. Given that the subsurface material is
not suspected to be contaminated, drilling cuttings will be discharged on the ground surface near
the well.
17278 Golden Valley Parkway • Lathrop, CA 95330• (209)835-0610 • Fax(888)279-2698
www.engeo.com
