0
Item 4 will be addressed by the regulatory agency(ies) involved,
probably the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The method
the Board uses as guidance in determining cleanup levels is
contained in "Waste Classification and Cleanup Level Determin—
ation". This document uses both pollutant toxicity and
availability to surface and groundwater as criteria for cleanup.
If the petroleum material is to be left in place and housing or
any other possible high human contact use is proposed, then
written approval for this use should be obtained from the
San Joaquin Local Health District and the State Department of
Health Services. If requested, AEMC will provide assistance in
this process.
