kn KLEINFELDER
1
5 REPORT OF FINDINGS
t
The findings of this study will be used in preparation of an HAR for
submittal to the RWQCB and to monitor clean up operations related to SI
' closure.
' Analytical results of previously collected closure samples will be
utilized to establish statistical distributions of background
I concentrations for six metals of concern to DOHS. Background
' concentrations will be defined as the mean value of each metal plus two
standard deviations, i.e. , background = x + 2S. Analytical results of
' these and future confirmation samples obtained (during closure activities)
from soil below the pond will be compared to the background values.
' Excavation will cease when the concentration of metals in confirmation
samples are equivalent to background concentrations. Rational judgement
will be used by the DOHS, RWQCB, and Kleinfelder during this comparison to
assess if high concentrations are statistical outliers or are a result of
contamination above background levels.
1 .
1
