tThe 28-day breaks were not performed as scheduled (35-day performed). The
results of the grout compressive strength tests from MW-4 are presented in
Table 6-1, Grout Compressive Strength Data.
' Table -1
Grout Compressive Strength Data
' Set No. Date Cast 24 Hours 7-day 35-day Remarks
Compressive Compressive Compressive
tStrength Strength Strength
1 06/03/92 465 psi 891 psi 2,390 psi Grout Prior to Pumping
' 2 06/03/92 334 psi 891 psi NP' Return Flow Grout
" NP - Not performed - cylinder damaged
' 6.4 Other Data - Other general data on pozmix cements and pozzolan is
presented in re-prints of an article entitled "Pozmix A Cement 1980" and a
' Technical Bulletin"Fly Ash: The Modern Pozzolan"attached under Appendix
E. The local supplier of the pozzolan was RMC Lonestar in Rancho
' Cordova, California. Based on a personal conversation with Mr. Tom Fox of
Pozzolanic, RMC Lonestar 's source of fly ash is from the Jim Bridger Power
Plant in Wyoming.
' 7.0 CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF GROUT MIXES
' 7.1 Sample Collection - Representative solidified grout samples from each of the
six abandonments were collected from within the well casings at
' approximately three feet below existing site grade. Two sample specimens
were collected from each abandonment and placed in clean glass jars. Each
sample was labeled and then placed in an ice chest with ice to maintain the
' samples at 4' C. Selected samples were transported for analysis to
Chromalab under refrigeration and Chain-of-Custody documentation. In
addition, duplicates of the selected samples were shipped under refrigeration
' and Chain-of-Custody documentation to Halliburton's laboratory in Duncan,
Oklahoma.
' The sample of the black colored residue from the free bleed water surface in
the containment pool at the MW-3 location was collected in a clean one
gallon plastic jar by Halliburton personnel as observed by the BSK project
' manager and the SJPHS inspector. This sample was shipped by Halliburton
to their laboratory facility in Duncan for X-ray diffraction analysis and
spectroscopic analysis.
14 RkN
' &Associates
